A Trip To Venice

Venice is such a beautiful place, and of course I had to have a look at the stone work and architecture while I was there.

Many of the buildings are a pale or white stone, which is infact Istrian stone.

This is by far the most prevalent stone in Venetian architecture, as it accounts for more than 90 percent of the stone used in Venice. Its white color made it a popular stone to contrast with colored marbles.
Actually a dense limestone and not marble yet has longevity needed for these incredible buildings.
