“My name is Maxine and I am the curator at Northumberland Zoo. Aidan has been appointed to do several projects here at the zoo in the last coupe of years which include both mock rock and murals.
He has shown an immense amount of creativity and enthusiasm for each project and is very diverse in his abilities, which is clear by the fact that we now consider him when planning any new/ all new projects.
The projects Aidan has completed for us include the theming in our Bear Falls Cafe. This project involved rockwork, large false trees and a running waterfall. Aidan also created the mock rock and mural landscape in our indoor animal displays building, The Wild Theatre, which really helps to set the scene for our birds of prey and mammals used in displays.

Most recently we have commissioned him to complete a rocky landscape on the indoor den of our exciting new snow leopard project.

We brought in unReal Productions to create an Aztec temple inspired feature wall within our Amazon Birds aviary featuring South American Macaws, Parrots and Conures. It’s a walkthrough exhibit, so the public can get right up to decor and visitors are amazed by the display.
During the design process Aidan was friendly and approachable, with similar ideas to what we had already had in mind, and therefore he had a clear understanding of what we were looking for.
He clearly is an exceptional artistic talent, with an eye for natural, realistic scenery.
The feature wall encompasses the waterfall, a rock wall intertwised with vines, faux trees and branches. A series of boulder like rock scapes and the temple ruins themselves.
Everything was liaised with us from the original sketches through to the template moulding, hand rendering and detailed carving and painting and finishing touches.
We will certainly be using unReal Productions for future exhibits and theme works.

Wild Zoological Park

Aidan has carried out a range of projects at the Zoo. We have found him easy to work with and are always really impressed with the end results. Aidan is able to follow a design brief and delivers high quality rockwork, on time and to budget, and we look forward to working with him in the future as we work through the Zoo development plan.
